“America's Stonehenge,” identified as an accurate astronomical calendar, was built over 4,000 years ago. Its man-made chambers, walls, and ceremonial meeting places were constructed by people well-versed in astronomy and stone construction. Visitors explore the site as a self-guided tour. (A phone app can be downloaded before arrival that contains an audio tour and more detailed information that the paper map which may acquired on site.) Note that, because of the uneven and rocky terrain of the site, only the visitor center and gift shop are handicap accessible.

The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire is housed in an art deco terminal and control tower building in Londonderry. The historic building was constructed as a WPA project in 1937 and was moved in 2004 to its present location on the southeast side of the Manchester Airport before being renovated. Hands-on exhibits tell the story of New Hampshire aviation history and include a flight simulator, various historical artifacts, and planes and models.

Canterbury Shaker Village was founded in 1969 and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1993. The historic site, dedicated to preserving the heritage and 200-year legacy of the Canterbury Shakers, has 25 restored original Shaker buildings, 4 reconstructed Shaker buildings, and 694 acres of forests, fields, gardens, nature trails, and mill ponds under permanent conservation easement. Visitors can engage in guided and self-guided tours, family activities, exhibits, educational programs, and the occasional special event. The Children's Museum of New Hampshire offers opportunities for children and families to explore art, science, and culture through dozens of activities and exhibits. Among these are the Thinkering and Steam Innovation Labs; Dino Detective; Music Matrix & Sound Watch; Naturalist's Study; Cave Explorers; and Post Office. The recently re-opened Dover Adventure Playground features a life-size flat-bottomed vintage gundalow boat; a net climber; swings and slides; a 3-story Garrison tower; a 1,200 pound, 3x8 foot climbable Alewife granite fish sculpture; a splash pad; musical instruments; and a life-sized “whale's tail” sculpture perched on the roof of the Dover Pool. Regularly scheduled special events take place throughout the year, including the Dover Mini Maker Faire; Teddy Bear Clinic + Picnic; Toddlerfest; 5K Road Race + Kid-Venture Course; and Earth Day Celebration; among others. The Currier Museum of Art, located in Manchester, NH, features European and American paintings, decorative arts, photographs and sculpture. The Gardner Museum houses the collection of Isabella Stewart Gardner, a local patron of the arts who died in 1924, in a building she commissioned to look like a 15th century Venetian palazzo. The center of the original building showcases courtyard plantings that reflect the seasons as they evolve throughout the year. In addition to her collection, which remains displayed exactly she arranged it per her will, there are changing exhibitions, concerts, lectures, family events, and an artist-in-residence program. In 2012, the museum opened an addition designed by Renzo Piano that houses a space for their concert series.

The Fells, originally the summer home of 20th century American statesman John Milton Hay, is an 83.5 acre estate with a 22-colonial Revival home, extensive formal and informal gardens, and trails overlooking Lake Sunapee. The property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, includes land and buildings originally part of the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge, created in 1987 for migratory bird conservation. Guided and self-guided tours of the garden and house, which include history and ecology exhibits and an art gallery, are available—check the website before going. A souvenir shop is on the premises.

    The museum, a part of the Boston National Historical Park, is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard near the ship USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) at the end of Boston's Freedom Trail. The museum provides a detailed look at the history of the ship, information about the war of 1812, and the battle between the ship and HMS Java. Stories are told through interactive exhibits, unique artifacts, archival records, and artwork. The museum also includes a research library which houses a strong collection of manuscripts, books, artifacts, and microfilm of primary source material. The ship itself is maintained by the US Navy, and may be visited free of charge on certain days.

    Created in 1915 with money from a philanthropist interested in promoting history, science and the arts to her fellow Dover citizens, the eclectic Woodman Institute Museum includes a medicinal & industrial garden; the oldest Sycamore tree in Strafford County; and four historic houses filled with artifacts connected to the nation's and Dover's past: The Woodman House (1818), The Damm Garrison House (1675), The John Parker Hale House (1813), and The Keefe House (1825). Of note in the museum's collection is the saddle used by President Abraham Lincoln when he rode to review troops shortly before his assassination. Changing exhibitions of artwork at the Thom Hindle Gallery include works available for purchase.
